“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

Aaaah, irony. It’s too bad that Obama was right about what he said in 2006; if he were wrong then and correcting himself now, we might be in a better spot.
That said, though, I’d say our leadership is failing not just in the White House, but in both houses of Congress and both parties as well. I have a hard time believing that anybody who blames one party for this mess isn’t just lying to themselves.
I am not sure if you know this but I am an anarchist, and not the kind that wears a bandana over the bottom of my face, and tosses fire bombs at cars or buildings. I follow the non-aggression principle. So I have to agree with you, this is a two-sided coin and both sides are at fault.
