Immigration

“If you need the government to protect your culture, it’s already dead. It’s like if you need armed guards to keep your wife in your house, your marriage is already dead. If you need violence to protect your ideas, your ideas are worthless to begin with.”-Thinksquad

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

BJG is a wise and well-spoken man.

Robert Heinlein might disagree on one point, however. Check out this neato quote from Starship Troopers:

Anyone who clings to the historically untrue – and thoroughly immoral – doctrine that ‘violence never settles anything’ I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler could referee, and the jury might well be the Dodo, the Great Auk, and the Passenger pigeon. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms.

Ayn Rand once wrote: “If men want to oppose war, it is statism that they must oppose. So long as they hold the tribal notion that the individual is sacrificial fodder for the collective, that some men have the right to rule others by force, and that some (any) alleged ‘good’ can justify it–there can be no peace within a nation and no peace among nations.”

  3. I was searching about your topic, “Immigration | Thinksquad” at one of the various forums I keep in my reader. You’re basically in complete agreement with each other. It isn’t what I thought, nonetheless I’m realizing now that I am most likely wrong… interesting..
